My appreciation of photography goes back to my youth. I remember when my father was taking diapositives and then we looked at them on the screen. It is a pleasure that we do not enjoy much nowadays with the digital. Sometimes I had the opportunity to take some pictures myself, I imagine it was more a game but that is how a passion begins, with the pleasure… as I am currently still doing photography for the pleasure!
Later on, around 12, I have entered a photo club, where I did development of black and white films. I have good memories of this practice; the several attempts to find the right exposition, the chemistry of the paper and the magic of the picture appearing in front of your eyes from the white sheet… On the other hand, that is when I really have began to learn the shooting, discovered the work of big photographers and, I think, also my love for women and there beautiful curves. Indeed, my first approach to portrait was a delight. Of course, I have started the nude only much later, but I mean that I was “working” on my eye and tastes, learning the basics of photographic culture and rules.
With the improvement of my material over the years, wider horizons were opened; such as wide angles for landscapes and macro photography. There again, I have learnt everything on the ground, moved forward by the pleasure and the desire to perfect my skills. With the family pictures, I have learnt how to walk around a subject to find the best angle and perspective, with flowers pictures it was the depth of field and the aperture… I guess, that is what is beautiful with a hobby, a passion… Without knowing it, you just improve yourself.
Then, there was the déclic. During my PhD in chemistry, I had a few of my photos hanged on the wall of my apartment. Some landscapes and city views… nice, if you ask me, but nothing exceptional. I guess I have never been great in landscape photography, though I still like it. So, a friend of mine has told me, quite amazed: “Wow! what gorgeous pics do you make! You should really go further!”
Thinking about it more seriously, I have looked for models on the internet and started artistic nude. I have also done a lot of shootings with friends. Both have always given me good fun. In that area the pleasure is present all the time; before the shooting with the preparation and the thinking, during the shooting for the relationship with the model and to know what will be a good shot or not; after the shooting for the processing of the pictures.
From one session to the other, I have opened my website, made a lot of contacts and gained knowledge on forums, etc. until I had a shoot per week, more and more demand and made several expositions and publications!
